Nintendo Entertainment System Game Paks[]
The Nintendo Entertaiment Game Paks were Game Paks designed for the Nintendo Entertainment System. These cartridges were designed to look like VHS cassettes to set it apart from other video game cartridges afer the North American video game crash of 1983 and released in two versions. The first Game Paks were made only in 1985, while the second version replaced the first one in 1985 and were made until the system's discontinuance in 1995 (the last game, Wario's Woods, was released in 1994). The two versions were very similar, except that the first version lakced two latches at the top along with two additional screws while the second version did not. Variations Some First version Game Paks during the holiday season of 1985 contained Famicom Adaptors to quicken the production of games before Christmas. These games included copies Gyromite and Stack-Up. Another variation is the warning label on the back of each Game Pak. Another Game Pak variation is the cartridge's color. The first run of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2: The Adventures Of Link and Nintendo World Championship 1990]] (which also featured a DIP switch) copies were painted gold (the second runs were the traditional gray plastic versions). Other varianted Game Pak cartridges are mostly pirated games, although these are not officially Game Paks. The final variation is the Game Pak's 'warning' label on its back. The following is a list of all three labels with descriptions.
